Skid steer stump grinders are hydraulic attachments that grind stumps below grade. This page lists four models from Wolverine, Arteer and Raytree, with cutting sizes from 25 to 31 inches.
Start with your machine's hydraulic flow
Flow is the first filter. The listed requirements differ, so check your skid steer's output before comparing anything else:
- Raytree RTSG30 (30" transverse): 14–26 GPM
- Wolverine (25 in. wheel): 15–30 GPM
- Raytree RMSG29 (29"): 20–30 GPM
- Arteer TSG-31W (31" transverse): listed as compatible with standard- and high-flow skid steers
If your machine sits at the low end of the range, the Raytree RTSG30 and the Wolverine cover it. The Raytree RMSG29 needs at least 20 GPM.
Compare cutting size, depth and teeth
- Cutting size: The Wolverine has a 25 in. wheel, the Raytree RMSG29 cuts 29", the Raytree RTSG30 cuts 30", and the Arteer cuts 31".
- Below-ground depth: The Wolverine reaches 8 inches. The Raytree RMSG29 goes up to 8.5 inches.
- Swing: The Wolverine has a 55 in. swing. The Raytree RMSG29 has a 45° hydraulic swing.
- Teeth: The Wolverine has 32 carbide teeth. The Raytree RMSG29 has 26 replaceable teeth. The Raytree RTSG30 uses replaceable alloy teeth.
- Weight: The Wolverine weighs 608 lbs. and the Arteer weighs 860 lbs. Compare this with your machine's lift capacity.
Transverse or standard design
The Arteer and the Raytree RTSG30 are transverse grinders. They grind side to side across the stump. The Raytree RMSG29 and the Wolverine list a swing instead. Choose based on the stumps you grind and how you like to work them.
The Arteer uses a universal skid steer quick mount. Confirm that your machine's coupler matches before you order.
