Hydraulic breakers for excavators, from compact units for 2–5 ton mini excavators up to models for 9–16 ton carriers. Use them for breaking concrete, rock, asphalt, footings and frozen ground.
Start with your carrier weight
Match the breaker to your excavator's weight class first. An undersized breaker works slowly, and a breaker too big for the carrier is a poor fit. The seven breakers on this page cover these classes:
- 2–5 ton: TOFT 530 (pin-on, for mini excavators)
- 4–7 ton: SB40, which can be set up as a side-type or top-type breaker
- 7–10 ton: TOFT 750
- 7–14 ton: SB45
- 9–16 ton: LYALS ALS1000, including appropriately configured CAT 312 machines
The Wolverine S-EB35 is a compact unit of about 211 lbs. The SDCH680 listing doesn't give a carrier class, so confirm fit before you order.
Check the specs that affect fit and performance
- Pin size: The Wolverine S-EB35 uses 25 mm pins. The TOFT 750 and SB40 list 50 mm pins. The LYALS ALS1000 has a 65 mm pin configuration. Compare these with your stick or quick coupler.
- Impact rate: The TOFT 750 and SB40 are listed at 500–900 BPM. The Wolverine S-EB35 is listed at 600–800 BPM with about 203 ft-lbs of impact energy.
- Hydraulic flow and pressure: The TOFT 750 lists 13–24 GPM and 1600–2500 PSI. Check that your excavator's auxiliary circuit falls in the range for the breaker you pick.
- Weight: The TOFT 750 is about 948–950 lbs. The SB40 is about 292–340 kg. Make sure your machine can handle the weight.
- What's included: The LYALS ALS1000 comes with hydraulic hoses, a breaker bit, a toolbox, tools and a pressure gauge.
Matching the breaker to the job
For light demolition, footings and small concrete work, the smaller breakers are the practical choice. For heavier concrete, rock, asphalt and roadwork, look at the larger models. If you run more than one excavator, check which pin sizes your machines use before comparing models.
