Tension Fabric Building vs. Steel Building: Which Is Right for You?
1 min readChupp Industrial Inc.
Fabric buildings go up faster and cost less — but steel has its place. Here is how to decide which storage building fits your property and budget.
Tension Fabric Building vs. Steel Building
Both protect your equipment. They just get there differently.
Tension fabric buildings
- Faster to install and generally lower cost per square foot.
- Clear-span interiors — no center posts, so you can park and maneuver anything inside.
- Bright interior (light comes through the fabric), naturally ventilated.
- Great for equipment storage, hay, livestock, workshops, and RV/boat sheds.
Steel buildings
- Higher up-front cost and longer build time.
- Best when you need a fully insulated, climate-controlled, permanent structure.
Our take
For most storage and shelter needs, a heavy-duty PVC fabric building gives you the space you need for a lot less money and a lot less hassle. We carry sizes from small shelters up to 50x100 clear-span buildings.
