Skid Steer Concrete Mixer: How It Mixes, Pours and Cleans Out

A skid steer concrete mixer mixes material with an auger inside the bucket and pours it out through a discharge at the bottom. How much concrete does a skid steer concrete mixer hold?

The JCT mixer holds 15 cubic feet of material, and the AGT mixer holds 12.36 cubic feet.

How much hydraulic flow does a concrete mixer attachment need?

A concrete mixer attachment needs little hydraulic flow. Its internal mixing paddle turns slowly, so it does not require a large amount of flow to operate.

Does it pump concrete?

No. These skid steer concrete mixers do not pump concrete. The auger in the bucket mixes the material, and it comes out through a discharge hole at the bottom of the attachment.

Can the mixer turn both directions?

Yes. The mixer can reverse and rotate both ways for mixing.

How do the chutes and the remote control work?

Concrete leaves the mixer through a bottom discharge chute, and there is also a side chute. On a mixer with a remote control, the remote operates only the bottom chute.

The side chute is often the more convenient one to pour from, because you can drive along the form and pour concrete as you go.

How do you clean it out?

The mixer drum has a lid that hinges up, so you can reach the inside and clean it out.

Does the mixer bearing need grease?

No. The mixer has a sealed bearing, so there is nothing to grease. It turns at a low RPM, which is easy on the bearing. If a bearing ever does go out, the model and part number can be read off the unit and a new bearing ordered for it.

Which one should I pick?
