Container Shelter Sizes: 20, 26 or 40 Feet Wide?

Covermore container shelters come in three standard widths: 20, 26 and 40 feet wide. They are for anyone who has two shipping containers and wants to roof the space between them. The right container shelter depends on the spacing between your containers, so here is how to match one to your layout.

Which container shelter width fits my containers?

• The 20-foot-wide shelter fits either 20-foot or 40-foot containers.
• The 26-foot-wide shelter fits 40-foot containers.
• The 40-foot-wide shelter fits 40-foot containers.

Can you make a custom size to fit my gap?

No. Covermore container shelters only come in standard sizes, and they can't be made to fit a non-standard gap between containers.

How much space do I need between my containers?

The 26-foot-wide container shelter (the 26x40) needs 25 feet 4 inches of spacing between the containers. The 40-foot-wide container shelter (the 40x40x15) has an actual inside clearance of 37 feet 8 inches, even though its overall exterior comes out to around 40 feet.

Because of that, the 40x40x15 container shelter won't stretch across a 40-foot gap between the containers. Measure the gap between your containers against the shelter's inside clearance, not the size in its name.

What does the last number in a container shelter size mean?

The last number in a container shelter size is the height. On a 40x40x15, the 15 means 15 feet from the top of your containers to the peak of the shelter.

The container shelter's height is measured from the top of the containers, so the total height is however tall your containers stand plus that number.

Do container shelters mount on the inside or outside of the containers?

Covermore container shelters can mount on either the inside or the outside of the shipping containers, using a twist-lock mechanism.

Can I mount a container shelter on something other than containers?

Yes. A Covermore container shelter can mount on wood or concrete once its twist locks are cut off. The shelter has twist-lock mechanisms for all four top corners of the shipping containers, and if you aren't installing it on containers, those have to be cut off.

With the twist locks removed, the container shelter's baseplates bolt onto your wood or concrete surface instead.

Are the containers included with the shelter?

No. Covermore container shelters do not include the shipping containers. Covermore does not sell containers, so plan on sourcing them separately.
