Will a Scissor Lift Fit on Your Trailer? Ramps, Forklift or Delivery

2 min readThe Lift Bros

A used scissor lift will usually fit on a trailer with standard ramps, and our shop can also load it with a forklift or deliver it.

A used scissor lift will usually fit on a trailer with a standard set of ramps, but we never guarantee it, since some trailers need a bit of modification first. Loading a scissor lift onto a trailer comes down to three options: drive it on with ramps, have our shop set it on with a forklift or telehandler, or have one of our drivers deliver it.

Will a used scissor lift fit on my trailer?

A used scissor lift should drive onto a trailer with standard ramps, but The Lift Bros never guarantees that a lift will drive straight onto a given trailer, because some trailers need a bit of modification first.

If your trailer doesn't have standard ramps, our shop has a forklift that can set the lift on the trailer for you.

Can you load the lift if my trailer is too tall or the wrong type for a forklift?

Our team can set a scissor lift on a customer's trailer with a forklift, or with a telehandler for a tall livestock trailer. The catch with a livestock trailer is that the lift has to be able to come back out of it afterward, so think about how you will unload it at the other end before you go that route.

What if a JLG scissor lift won't drive?

A JLG scissor lift that can't be driven has a freewheel mode for moving it. Our technician knows the exact steps for the JLG, so leave that to our shop, or bring the lift to us to be fixed.

Why won't a standard freight liftgate work for a scissor lift?

A standard freight liftgate usually maxes out around 3,200 pounds, and the scissor lifts we deliver are closer to 4,000 pounds, so a liftgate can't take the weight.

Can you deliver a scissor lift if I have no forklift to unload it?

Depending on distance, one of our drivers can deliver a scissor lift on a trailer that rolls down, so the lift can be driven right off at ground level with no forklift needed. Long-distance orders ship on a flatbed instead, and those need a dock or forklift to unload. Ask us which way your lift would come before you plan the unloading.
