Custom Fabric Cover for an Arch Frame: What Measurements to Send

2 min readCovermore Buildings

A custom fabric cover for a homemade arch frame is sized from two measurements: the overall length and the up-and-over distance.

A custom fabric cover can be made to fit an arch frame you built yourself, such as a homemade salt bin frame. Covermore Buildings normally sells its tension fabric buildings and container shelters as complete kits, but it can have just the cover made, cut to your frame's own measurements instead of a standard size.

Can Covermore Make Just a Custom Fabric Cover for My Arch Frame?

Yes - Covermore Buildings can have a custom fabric cover made for a homemade arched structure, such as a salt bin frame, so you do not have to buy a whole kit.

What Measurements Do You Need for a Custom Fabric Cover?

Covermore needs two measurements from your arch frame:

  1. Overall length of the structure.
  2. Up-and-over measurement - the distance over the top of the arch from the base plate or the top of the concrete block on one side to the same point on the other side.

From there, Covermore works out the cover size:

  • About 12 to 16 inches comes off the up-and-over measurement for the gap and the pockets, which are where the frame sits.
  • The side flap that hangs down can be made as long as you want, so it can be secured to the block or base.
  • About two and a half feet is added to the length, which leaves roughly 16 inches of overhang at the front and back, where a drawstring cinches the cover down over the frame.

How Is a Custom Cover Different From a Standard Cover?

Covermore's custom fabric cover is thicker and double-seamed, and it is built to be more durable than Covermore's standard building cover. The custom cover is made by a company Covermore works with that handles one-off custom sizes.
