Container Shelter Shipping: Freight Terminal Pickup and Unloading

2 min readCovermore Buildings

A Covermore container shelter ships by freight to a site with a forklift or to a freight terminal, where you pick it up and unload it yourself.

A Covermore container shelter ships nationwide by freight, either to your site or to a freight terminal for pickup. Either way, you need a way to unload it: a forklift on site for delivery to your address, or your own equipment, like a tractor with pallet forks, for terminal pickup.

Can a container shelter ship to a freight terminal instead of my address?

Yes. A Covermore container shelter can ship will-call to a freight terminal, and the terminal calls you when it arrives so you can pick it up.

Will-call terminal pickup works well for a container shelter if you have your own way to load and unload it, like a tractor with pallet forks, since no liftgate is provided that way.

Can it ship straight to my site?

Yes, Covermore can ship a container shelter anywhere there is a forklift on site for unloading.

Can a tractor with pallet forks unload a container shelter?

Yes, if the machine can handle the weight. A 20x20 container shelter weighs about 700 pounds, so a tractor with pallet forks that can lift that much should do the job. Check your tractor and forks against that weight before the shelter arrives.

Which freight carrier will deliver my shelter?

Covermore doesn't usually know in advance which freight carrier will deliver a container shelter, because it ships with three or four different carriers.

Can I get the carrier to call before delivery?

Covermore can put a note on the shipment asking the carrier to contact you before delivery, but it doesn't have full control over whether the carrier does. Your invoice will also have the terminal's phone number for your area, so you can call the terminal manager directly and ask them to call you.

Ask the team about shipping and unloading for your site before you order.
